By now, summer has officially commenced and so too has stocking up on an arsenal of swimwear. Maybe I’m alone in this, but since we have to pack so much warm-weather goodness into such a short timeframe, I personally want to make good use of every single opportunity I have to slip into my latest waterproof wears.

And that’s exactly why this summer, I challenge you to exponentially expand the time wearing those summer essentials by turning them into full-on outfits. How, you ask? By substituting swimsuits for bralettes, crop tops, T-shirts, and camisoles. Whether you’re headed to a cocktail party or Sunday morning brunch, try out these six looks that will have you wearing swimwear IRL—all summer long.

J.Crew Underwire One-Piece Swimsuit in Leopard Print ($118); Zara Satin Skirt ($40); Mango Leather Biker Jacket ($200); Aquazzura So Nude 105mm Sandals ($695)

Edgy after-hours

For the edgier dressers, this is the perfect time to bust out that bustier-style leopard one-piece you love so much for summertime swims. It makes the perfect bodysuit when expertly paired with a black silk skirt, leather jacket, and heels.

Madewell Second Wave Crisscross One-Piece Swimsuit ($70); Slink Jeans Frayed Denim Shorts ($59); Alison Lou Neon Medium Jelly Hoops ($145); Loewe Gate Logo-Embossed Leather Espadrille Sandals ($430)

Just the classics

Sometimes all you want is a go-to uniform, made just a little more interesting by substituting that cotton tank for a one-piece black maillot that will take you from the beach to the concrete jungle you call home—seamlessly. Slip it on underneath your favorite jean shorts, adding a pair of flat sandals and statement earrings for a little something special.

Marysia Palm Springs Maillot in Gingham ($349); Miu Miu Ruffled Cady Mini Skirt ($790); Pamela Munson Mixed Media Shoulder Bag ($475); Matiko Lynne Vinyl Sandals ($120)

If you love a pretty in pink moment, but want to minimize the frills and fuss, a feminine one-piece swimsuit might be the ultimate solution for you. We particularly love a scalloped pink gingham, paired with an equally sweet ruffled mini skirt and flat sandals for a summer day or night.

Madewell Pinyon Short Overalls ($118); Dodo Bar Or Ceccile Floral-Print Stretch-Jersey Bikini Top ($157); Shashi Clueless Hoop Earrings ($48); Superga 2730 Cotropew Sneakers ($85)

Peek of skin

For those looking to embrace the weather and show a little skin, but not bare it all for the world to see, overalls are the perfect in-between look. While most outfits might call for a bodysuit or even sweet lace bralette underneath for a more daring take on the trend, we challenge you to go bold with your most graphic bikini top underneath.

& Other Stories Asymmetric Wrap Midi Skirt ($69); Rochelle Sara The Morgan Top ($195); Prada Logo Plaque Bucket Bag ($1732); Jimmy Choo Romy Point-Toe Suede Flats ($548)

Summertime Romantic

Some of the most chic looks out there are a mix of romantic and sporty and few pieces are quite as athletic-inspired as a tank bikini top. After all, it is for action at it’s core. Instead of a crop top this summer, reach for a longline bikini top or tankini to pair with that gorgeous wrap midi skirt and flats for everything from breakfast with friends to a date night alfresco.

Boyish Jeans The Tommy Distressed Jeans ($168); Zara Swimsuit with Ruffled Shoulder ($40); Tory Burch Lee Radziwill Bag ($898); Fiveseventyfive Crisscross-Strap Suede Sandals ($125)

Casual Eccentric

We love a bold look, especially when paired with the most classic of denim. Pull out all the stops and pair that statement-making swimsuit with a pair of vintage-inspired jeans, opting for equally bold sandals and accessories to finish off the head-turning vibe.

These swimsuits won’t fade no matter how many times you wear them. And if you’re in search of comfy sandals, look no further.
