The Stars May Be Aligning for Another #MeToo and #TimesUp Surge

This week, revealing secrets and healing shame are big astrological themes—and astrologer Jennifer Racioppi is here to guide you through it with her weekly dose of celestial wisdom, with a wellness twist. No matter what your sun sign is (or rising sign, or moon sign...), here's how to align with the stars to make your best love, career, fitness, food, and self-care choices.

Monday, March 5

Tomorrow Venus and Mercury will shift into Aries, breaking up this intense concentration in the sign of the fish, but for one more day, intense emotions may run the show. Notice what you are feeling. Do your feelings belong to you? Or are you feeling other people's emotions for them? Be mindful of emotional eating, and pay attention to where you numb out. Drink lots of water, and breathe. When the moon moves into Scorpio at 8:22 a.m. Eastern, there will be no planets in air signs in the sky. This makes taking deep breaths even more essential. If you need extra support when it comes to breathing, try defusing essential oils like eucalyptus and peppermint.

Tuesday, March 6

The cosmic tide transitions today as both Venus and Mercury leave gentle Pisces for cardinal fire sign Aries. With these two critical planets in Aries, now is the time go for what you want. Later this month, on March 22, Mercury will station retrograde, and even though it's entering its shadow now (a period where you can start to feel the impact of Mercury retrograde) it's still a good time to take action on behalf of your goals. So go for it! When it comes to your workout, feel the burn and push yourself (assuming it makes sense for you hormonally).

Wednesday, March 7

Believe it or not, not only are we halfway through the work week but we are just two weeks away from the upcoming equinox. With a seasonal transition looming there's no better moment than the present to reflect on what's gone on in your life since the start of 2018 (especially with Mercury entering his retrograde shadow). Yet, with no planets in an air sign, self-reflection might feel difficult. To remedy this, try doing mirror work. (You know, eye gazing with yourself in a mirror, while repeating positive affirmations.) While it sounds awkward and uninviting, this practice could radically change your life. So give it a whirl. You may even want to put affirmations on sticky notes and leave them on your mirror!

Thursday, March 8

Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system, stations retrograde today at 23 degrees of Scorpio. Representing good luck and good fortune, Jupiter indicates where things will grow abundantly in your life (and in the world in general). Scorpio, a sign notorious for secrets and sexuality, deals with taboo topics. Since Jupiter entered Scorpio on October 10, we've seen many secrets of sexual misconduct come to light (hello, #MeToo movement). Now that Jupiter is retrograde, (he stays retro until July 10) there's even more of a cosmic influence to reveal secrets and heal shame stemming from sexual abuse, and secrets. Don't be shy. Therapy and healing go a long way now. Time's up.

Friday, March 9

With the waning quarter moon happening at 18 degrees of Sagittarius in the early morning, today offers you the potent opportunity to release anything that stands in the way of fully expressing your freedom. What habits, patterns, behaviors, and choices do you repetitively make even though you know they hold you back? Now's the time to consciously surrender what longer serves you. Having trouble letting things go? Try "tapping." Known as the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), this tool supports letting go of emotional patterns that prevent you from living your best life. Coinciding perfectly with this waning quarter moon in Sagittarius (Sag is all about freedom), tapping might just be what the doctor ordered.

Saturday, March 10

With the moon in hard-working Capricorn on "Saturn's Day" AKA Saturday, you can get a lot done. Housework, chores, taxes, meal prep: All bode well today. Take advantage. Not feeling like being productive at home? Stay productive with your workout instead. With the moon in Capricorn, weight training supports you tremendously. You may even want to try using weights with yoga. Now's the time to build your strength.

Sunday, March 11

With Mars in a highly favorable angle to Uranus, breakthroughs abound—yet with Mercury battling it out with Saturn, you need to take it slow. Apropos for daylight saving time here in the US, where we gain an extra hour of sunlight, at the expense of an hour of sleep. As you adjust to the extra light, be sure to tend to your body's rhythm, which may just feel a bit thrown off. Create a luscious nighttime ritual to support getting to bed on time. Try a salt bath, a little extra magnesium, and an evening foot massage. Be mindful of late-night screen time, too, as it may stimulate you rather than help you fall asleep early.
