If you’ve been on Instagram lately, you may have noticed that ombré food is having a moment. From smoothies to toast, these colorful creations look almost too pretty to eat—and way too complicated to even dare try to replicate.
But here’s a secret: It’s easier than it looks. With this recipe from healthy chef Alexis Bondaroff of Bond&Taylor, you can create your own ombré parfait in just a few minutes, layering creamy yogurt and blueberry puree.

“When making simple dishes, you have to figure out a creative way to make them visual,” Bondaroff says of the inspiration—for her, a happy accident dreamed up while experimenting.
And it’s just as nutritious as it is visually appealing: The sheep’s milk yogurt makes the parfait’s consistency super creamy and packs in the protein (a whopping 13 grams per serving). Plus, the blueberries give your breakfast an antioxidant boost.
“We love using sheep milk because it has all of the good fats and vitamins and minerals, and your body absorbs it better than regular yogurt,” Bondaroff says. “It also has a really beautiful thickness to it, so it does this ombré effect really nicely.”
Pro tip: These beauties totally work as a dessert (and no one will notice that they’re low in sugar). “Everybody goes crazy,” Bondaroff says of her experiences serving them up to a crowd. The one downside? “There’s never any left over.”

Ombré Blueberry Yogurt Parfait
Makes 4 parfaits
1. Blend the frozen blueberries, maple syrup, and lemon zest in a food processor or blender to create the puree.
2. Combine half of the puree with half of the yogurt and whisk until incorporated.
3. Spread the plain yogurt in the bottom of four small glasses or jars. Add an equal amount of the blueberry yogurt to each, and top with the remaining blueberry puree.
4. Garnish with fresh or dried blueberries or blackberries—and snap lots of pics!
