This Rosy-Hued Oat Milk Latte Is As Delicious As It Is Pretty
When it comes to alt-milks, for many, oat lands at the top of the list. The darling of the dairy-free milk world has been shown to reduce LDL cholesterol, and it seems to be more gentle on the gut. Because it tastes closer to cow’s milk and is frothier and more full-bodied than nut milks, it’s a go-to for many baristas—including Gregory Zamfotis, owner of Gregorys Coffee.
One of his latest creations? An elderberry and beet root latte that uses oat milk for its base. It might seem like an odd combo but Zamfotis says his first inspiration was the beets: “I’m a big fan of beets, so I started playing around with the powder and milk to see how it would turn out," he says.

Zamfotis found the beet root to be too earthy on its own for a latte so he decided to add elderberry, which has a natural sweetness to it. The result: An earthy yet subtly sweet latte with a satisfyingly smooth texture.
