I’ve recently gone deep into studying the mystical trinity of astrology, tarot, and Greek mythology. Apparently this is some Taurus-in-the-8th-house stuff. Basically my natal chart shows that I’m meant to get into horoscopes, death, sex, the occult, all the things that will transform me into Well+Good’s in-house witch, which I’m good with. I think there’s value in seeking out online astrology courses or anything spiritual, and if you’re someone who does not need to do another pilates class, I invite you to join me.
Below, I’ve selected a range of spiritually-inclined workshops, classes, courses and communities. Are you a dedicated mystic who holds regular New Moon parties with your coven? Are you looking quickly learn discipline that connects you to your intuition and might impress your friends over Zoom? Are you a sensible Athena who wants to blend history and science while learning ancient arts in a modern lens? Or are you, like my mom when she rewatches all eight Harry Potter movies, just bored?
My philosophy remains that it doesn’t hurt to learn something new, and this is forever more appealing than baking. So whatever your level of commitment, we have options.
Online astrology courses and more classes that’ll help you find your circle
1. MAGIC OF YOU ASTROLOGY COURSE, $22 per month
The spiritually inclined self-care community Cosmic Revolution always has extremely cool events, and right now they’ve been running a three month long course on, well, the magic of you. This online class live streams every Thursday at 5:30 p.m ET, and is divided into themed parts, dedicated to each sign. Class is currently in session and focused on Astrology for Relationships—that means getting deep with your Venus sign, kids—with upcoming courses focuses on the celestial bodies that speak to your career and purpose.
2. TASTING THE ARCHETYPES, $5 to 20
This is a donation based one-off class straight from the Portland School of Astrology, and it sounds, well, delish. It’s an interactive exploration of the foods, tastes, and flavors of each zodiac sign and archetype. In this body and food positive class, you’ll learn a little bit about how to remediate astrological imbalances through food, which should really up the game of your next baking project. Come knowing your sun, moon, rising, and Venus sign (here’s my favorite natal chart generator if you need a refresher).
3. HOW TO UNBLOCK YOUR CHAKRA, $12
The souped up course is currently on sale down from $60, and teaches you how to balance your and heal your 7 chakras with over three hours of video split into tiny micro-lectures. You even get a certificate upon completion, giving you that full class experience (and, hey, there’s a bonus yoga workout at the end).
Exactly what it sounds like, all with the glowy guidance of astrologer Natalia Benson. This little bundle is here to get you really in touch with your spiritual self and use these divine crafts in a practical way. It’s the perfect place to start if you’re mystic-curious and don’t know where to begin; Benson will encourage you through the process and teach you how to mold these practices into a modern life. Feel free to check out some of her other magical classes as well!
5. LABYRINTHOS TAROT, Free
Okay, full disclosure, this is more of an app than a formal, get-your-pen-and-marble-notebook-ready course. You know what else it is? Extremely cute and easy! While many of these require a certain amount of discipline and time, this is great if you want to focus on studying Tarot, but do it kind of at your own leisure. I have this on my phone right, it’s been a wise, encouraging guide. I barely scream whenever I pull The Hermit now, which is always.
This self-study class from Mystery School of the Goddess (of course) acquaints you week-to-week with 22 goddesses from around the world. We’re talking about some of the all-time greats: Morgan Le Fey, Isis, Athena, Gaia, Kali, but not Persephone which is my all-time favorite. You’ll learn about their corresponding Tarot archetype, flower essences, essential oils, gem elixirs, while enjoying guided meditations and practices. If you own the Goddess oracle card set and you break it out at every party, this feels like a good way to pass the time until you can be social again.
7. FENG SHUI ALTAR CREATION, FREE
Also from the Mystery School of the Goddess, this is a creative course made up of mainly audio and document learning. It guides you how you make an altar-for the uninformed a sacred space where the real world meets the divine. Mine is an end table I found outside of a bar in Brooklyn. Earnestly, though, this guides you through wonderfully creative and empowering project that helps you balance the Chinese Trinity of Heaven, Earth and Humanity.
I love Yia Mas, a Hellenistic wellness event series that envelopes you in warm, ancient grecian delights. All their workshops, available live and later online, are worth checking out—Greek Herbs & Remedies for Wellness is an excellent way to embrace your inner Circe. I’m highlighting this for history buffs interested in exploring the eternally useful techniques the ancient Greeks (read: the OGs of wellness) used to destress and refocus. Upfront, Yia Mas’ tone is a bit more grounded and practical compared to many of these courses, but still jovial; you’ll learn the history of the Greek muses, and why they’re worth calling in during a writer’s block.
9. ROSE GOLD GODDESSES, $30 per MONTH
Run by Sahara Rose Ketabi, Rose Gold Goddesses is akin to Cosmic Revolution in that its a supportive community offering a melange of spiritual workshops. If you’re really committed to all things mystical seek and abundance in your practices, this might be your circle. Workshops include everything from How to Have a Cacao Ceremony Home at How to Read a Vedic Astrological Chart (it’s different!) to Manifesting Abundance and Embodying Your Inner Queen.
Finally, a course that has its heart on its sleeves (and, of course, lines on its hands). If you want to play it straight and have an excellent parlor trick to play when we’re able to touch people again, it doesn’t hurt to have some palm reading basics in your back pocket. And if you really want to take things to the next level, look to how it connects to astrology and you’ll emerge from quarantine with a whole new set of skills and a (metaphorical, I hope) third eye.
