Beyond Meat has been creating realistic plant-based protein for years, and its Beyond Burger—the vegan patty that looks and cooks like the typical beef version (complete with beet-juice blood!)—is only getting more and more popular. And apparently, Leonardo DiCaprio can't get enough.

According to a press release, the actor and environmental advocate (his documentary about climate change, Before the Flood, came out last year) has joined the company's roster of investors to help spread even more awareness about the product's purported benefits for human health, natural resources, animal welfare, and the climate.

"Livestock production is a major contributor to carbon emissions. Shifting from animal meat to the plant-based meats is one of the most powerful measures someone can take to reduce their impact on our climate." —Leonardo DiCaprio

"Livestock production is a major contributor to carbon emissions. Shifting from animal meat to the plant-based meats is one of the most powerful measures someone can take to reduce their impact on our climate," DiCaprio said in a statement.

Despite food-safety concerns raised by one of its competitors, the Beyond Burger is set to expand to thousands of food chains, hotels, hospitals, and school cafeterias in light of a partnership with the food-distribution company, Sysco.

With the company's protein-packed mock meats becoming readily available and one of the world's biggest heartthrobs telling you to eat them, what are you waiting for? (But just make sure you don't watch *that* scene from The Revenant while chowing down.)

Here are the best cities when it comes to being vegan- and vegetarian-friendly. Want to get the scoop on McDonald's new vegan burger? Check out the details.
