Highlighters are that special category of beauty products that give your skin a healthy glow (even if you’ve fallen off the green juice-a-day wagon or you’re not exactly sleeping eight hours).
And they do it by reflecting light rather than covering anything up or gooping too much of anything on. Double the healthiness!
Once you’ve learned the less-is-more trick to applying them—just a dab it on in a few key spots—you’ll be able to prolong that post-workout or camera-ready glow with serious ease.
And these summer-to-fall radiance-boosters are the newest on the natural beauty scene to help you do it. —Molly Gallagher and Melisse Gelula
La Bella Figura, the natural perfume and skin-care line, just launched a breakout makeup collection—and if you’re a fan of the brand’s scents, you’ll love the highlighter, too. It’s slightly floral and infused with vitamins C, E, and K. “Highlighters look great on any area where light naturally hits the face. On top of cheekbones is a great place to start,” says La Bella Figura founder Victoria Fantauzzi. The slightly dry highlighter comes in subtly shimmery, golden shade “to compliment most skin tones, from the palest to darker skin,” Fantauzzi says.
This cruelty-free, vegan, and natural skin-care line makes foundation, eye shadow, blush, and more. This new highlighter comes in just one shade—a peachy color with a little bit of shimmer. The stick makes it super easy to apply (especially if you’re not that into using your hands). “The cream formulation features the same luminous pigment as our popular powder highlighter. [You] simply swipe the product directly onto your skin [and] blend if needed,” explains Au Naturale founder, Ashley Prange.
The natural makeup maven continues to use her sleek little compacts—which click open like a Zippo—as the coolest cosmetic packaging on the natural makeup block. This time it’s filled with a pretty highlighter. It comes in one shade, aptly named Radiance.
“The subtle tone of beige, almost lavender, works on skin tones from light to dark. My goal was to achieve a highlighter that looks like a built-in glow, not a pearl’ finish added to the skin—an illusion of a glow coming from the inside,” says Kirsten Kjær Weis, the beauty and brains behind Kjaer Weis. It’s also chock full of moisturizing skin-care ingredients like almond seed oil.
